This eternally young city of around 200,000 inhabitants has lived to its urban rhythm for 1,700 years, with Diocletian’s Palace at its heart, both the historic city centre and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cathedral of St Domnius, the patron saint of Split, is housed in Emperor Diocletian’s mausoleum, and its magnificent interior is a gathering place for many worshippers and tourists. Many valuable cultural monuments lie outside the walls of Diocletian’s Palace (the Renaissance Prokurative Square, palaces, churches, museums…). Situated in the warmest part of the Mediterranean coast, at the very centre of the Adriatic coast, Split is Dalmatia’s centre for tourism, the economy and sport (Goran Ivanišević, Blanka Vlašić, Toni Kukoč), and preserves its ‘green soul’ on Marjan Hill. This forest park offers a pleasant, quiet atmosphere, a place for recreation and walks away from the noise of the city.

New knowledge. New opportunities. In Split.

The wide range of attractions for tourists and unique cultural and tourism events give Split a special charm and make it an ideal holiday destination throughout the year. The Emperor's Palace is one of the most significant works of late antique architecture, not only for the preservation of its original parts and overall structure, but also for a range of original elements and ensembles, as well as original architectural elements and forms that anticipate the new Early Christian, Byzantine and early medieval art. The cathedral was built in the Middle Ages using materials from the ancient mausoleum. Within the Roman walls are Roman churches from the 12th and 13th centuries, medieval fortifications and Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque palaces, together forming a harmonious whole.
Professional conferences and collaborations
Projects
The Agency for Vocational Adult Education appointed us to organise professional development conferences for vocational subject teachers in maritime transport and logistics for 2019, 2020 and 2021. The entire project, entitled ‘Modernisation of the Professional Development System for Vocational Subject Teachers’, was funded by the European Social Fund. The project was approved by the European Commission in 2020, making us proud official partners of the European Commission.
We also organise other professional conferences, including events within the SELS Split project ‘2nd edition of the Summer ELSA Law school Split’ for law students in 2019, and the professional conference ‘Counselling in Adult Education’ in cooperation with the Association of Adult Education Institutions of the Republic of Croatia.

SSM United Ship Management
We are the only provider on the market offering employment after training!
Our advantage is that, as part of the SSM United Ship management group (one of the three oldest seafarer training centres in Europe and the oldest in the Mediterranean), we offer students the opportunity to work on passenger ships as officers and hotel staff after completing their education.
